NEW YORK, August 22, 2018 — The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America^® (Guardian), one of the nation’s largest mutual life insurers and a leading provider of whole life, individual disability insurance and employee benefits, announced today that Vivek Sankaran has been elected to a three-year term on its board of directors.

Mr. Sankaran is president and chief operating officer (COO) of Frito-Lay North America, where he leads PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay snack and convenient foods business. His leadership at Frito-Lay began in 2016, after serving as COO and as Chief Commercial Officer of PepsiCo North America where he was responsible for PepsiCo’s cross-divisional performance across all North American customers. Before joining PepsiCo in 2009, Mr. Sankaran was a partner at McKinsey and Company, where he served various Fortune 100 companies with a focus on strategy and operations.

Mr. Sankaran has an MBA from the University of Michigan, a master’s degree in manufacturing from Georgia Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Chennai.
